Carrie Boswell Saunders Scholarship

Requirements: Crawfordsville High School graduate, community service, volunteerism
Description:

Very few people have embodied Athenian spirit throughout their lives like Carrie Boswell Saunders did. Not only was Carrie a cheerleader during her time at Crawfordsville High School, she also returned in the final years of her life to work as a secretary. She constantly donned gold and blue, attended sporting events even when her own kids weren’t playing, and warmly welcomed every student that walked through the doors of CHS.

Outside of her Athenian pride, she had a deep faith and a beautiful relationship with her savior, Jesus. She absolutely loved family time and was always working to organize family dinners, Turkey Run hikes, Pickleball games, and intentional time together. She enjoyed walking the Sugar Creek Trail on an almost daily basis, and loved being with her Rock Point Church family.

Carrie was diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer in August 2023, but maintained a bright and beautiful smile, strong faith, and her quick-witted sense of humor until she went home to be with Jesus on November 2, only twelve weeks after being diagnosed. Her friends and family established this scholarship fund to carry on that legacy of Athenian spirit, in hopes of helping future Crawfordsville graduates pursue their dreams. Carrie absolutely loved her Crawfordsville community, and her family is grateful for an opportunity to give back to the place that shaped her.
