Requirements: Montgomery County student entering sophomore year, Criminal Justice major
Description:
Louis and Norma Swenke were lifelong Montgomery County residents and worked tirelessly to give back to the community. The couple owned Swenke Satellite and Antenna and S & S Concessions, and Norma operated Jack and Jill Nursery School.
Aside from their businesses, Louis served with the Crawfordsville Police Department for 23 years as a Detective Lieutenant and private investigator. He and Norma were active with the department, helping with initiatives such as Just Say No and Red Ribbon Week.
Through a bequest, the Swenkes started a fund to support the Crawfordsville Police Department K-9 program, a branch of the department that was very special to them both. In addition, the Swenkes also established the Louis and Norma Swenke Scholarship, which provides support to Montgomery County students pursuing degrees in Criminal Justice.
Criteria:
• Be a graduate in good standing of a Montgomery County, Indiana high school
• Be a freshman at and scheduled to attend your sophomore year at an accredited college or university
• Be pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice or a related field
